Jay Kingley, MBA
Chief Executive Officer
|
|
Jay is responsible for the commercial operation of our company. He is in charge of business development, partnerships and alliances, marketing, finance, and all administrative functions.
Jay’s record of accomplishment includes designing, developing, and operating a number of successful businesses, leading business development efforts covering joint ventures, partnerships, corporate venturing, mergers and acquisitions, and achieving entrepreneurial success. Jay has been keenly interested in the healthcare industry for a number of years. He has embarked on both a professional and personal journey of exploration and learning on preventative healthcare, particularly weight loss and fitness. He has also studied the economics of the healthcare industry and has a strong point of view on how the industry will likely develop and evolve.
Prior to staring Kingley Health, Jay spent 3 years as a senior level management consultant focusing on growth and innovation. Previous to that, Jay headed a global venture development group at Zurich Financial Services. During his tenure with Zurich, Jay built a world-class business building team and provided oversight to the launch and management of new ventures representing a total capital investment of $85 million. Part of corporate headquarters, this group collaborated with Zurich’s insurance, asset management, banking and brokerage businesses on a global basis. Jay started with Zurich as the CEO of Scudder Investment’s venture development group. Before joining Zurich, Jay was a management consultant where he worked in partnership with senior client management on issues of strategy, technology, and finance while building high value practice areas for two international consulting firms. He was a senior partner and member of the Operations Committee at DiamondCluster (formerly Diamond Technology Partners) where he led the firm’s global insurance and health care practice. He was previously a Vice President with The LEK Partnership, where he was a leader in the firm’s telecommunications practice. Jay grew the financial services and healthcare practice from $4 million to $53 million in annual revenues and from 5% to 45% of total firm revenues. He directed a team of 35 partners and pre-partners as practice head. Jay was particularly strong at building relationships with client prospects and closing new business opportunities.
Jay has been a principal in the creation of six start-up or early stage companies. As co-founder and President of Call Sciences, Inc., a software company serving the telecommunications industry, Jay built the firm from its initial concept with backing from an affiliate of Soros Fund Management. During his tenure, the company increased its market value by 400%. Jay was part of the management team that took Diamond public in 1997. Diamond achieved a 40-fold increase in market value during his time with the firm. Jay has adapted the principles of option theory, venture capital, and organizational dynamics to create a powerful, pragmatic model for designing and implementing innovative business initiatives that minimizes risk while directing the bulk of investment capital to those projects that are most likely to create tangible value. While working for Zurich, Jay developed an integrated consumer financial services model, a plan for a claims exchange with a pre-funded claims smart card, and a series of targeted risk management portals.
A frequently published author, Jay has written on the financial services and health care industries for publications such as CIO Magazine, Context Magazine, National Underwriter Magazine, and Insurance Networking. While at Diamond, he published A Digital Bit, a newsletter covering the financial services industry sent to hundreds of C-level executives every month. He has been a speaker at numerous conferences, including those sponsored by Business Week, Information Week, Microsoft, Investment Company Institute, Friedman, Billings, & Ramsey, and The Real Options Group. He has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, Forbes, Crain’s, American Banker, Morningstar, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Handelsblatt, and has appeared on CNN. Jay is on the Board of Directors of Level 8 Systems, a publicly traded software company. Jay still manages to do a little consulting on the side, primarily to the not-for-profit sector. When not working, Jay enjoys spending time with his daughter, Tea, staying fit, and discussing political economy issues. Jay holds an MBA with Distinction from Wharton and a B.S. Degree with Distinction in engineering from Cornell University.
